We can admit it: We’re suckers for military reunion videos. The moment a serviceman or woman surprises their kids, their spouse, their parents, or even their dog—and the sheer elation on everyone’s faces that follows—we feel the joy swelling in our hearts, and maybe even a few tears in our eyes.
But we also know that the weeks, months, and even years leading up to that moment are a struggle for everyone involved, not just for the troops coming home.
Parents worry when their sons and daughters are in harm’s way. Children miss mom or dad during important milestones like birthdays and graduations. And spouses and partners have to hold down the fort at home, shouldering the stress of uncertainty while their loved one is deployed.
As much as we love seeing those sweet, emotional videos, we know that service involves much more than a happy return home.
And that’s why we are proud at Cell Phones For Soldiers to help families maintain those connections in every moment leading up to those reunions.
Since 2004, we have provided more than 400 million minutes of free talk time to deployed troops. We send about 2,500 calling cards every week to help our servicemen and women stay in touch with their loved ones at home.
It is our mission to help make deployments a little less stressful for military families, and to raise the morale of our troops serving all over the world.
We can only do this with your help! We can turn your unwanted cell phones, smartphones, and mobile devices into calling cards for our troops. If you don’t have a device to donate, you can support our mission with a cash donation. Even $5 helps to give a military family a meaningful conversation.
